What is a true professional?

Dr. Budd Shenkin takes on this topic on his blog.  The summary point:

A true professional is someone who figures a problem is off his plate only when a problem is solved systemically. 

[Otherwise] they might being a professional in the narrow sense, but it’s not enough.
